Cadette and Senior Girl Scouts:
DART, a non-profit that specializes in violence prevention, has developed an interactive, 4-hour Practical Self-Defense Workshop for Girl Scouts to help your troop satisfy the requirements for the Your Best Defense Interest Project Award. During this dynamic workshop, experienced martial arts instructor(s) cover: - safety awareness
- common sense preventions & solutions
- effective use of voice as a defense tool
- easily learned physical self-defense techniques
- effective escapes from holds
- the use of common items to fend off an attack
- the pros and cons of personal protection items
- the differences between various martial arts
Participants have the opportunity to practice scenarios putting their knowledge to use. DART will send an instructor(s) to your location. Brownie and Junior Girl Scouts: This 90-minute workshop offers the younger Girl Scouts an age-appropriate introduction to self-defense. Topics include:- safety awareness
- common sense preventions & solutions
- effective use of voice as a defense tool –NO, GO, TELL
- a sample of physical self-defense techniques
- use of common items to fend off an attack
- the differences between various martial arts
