Cadette and Senior Girl Scouts:

DART, a non-profit that specializes in violence prevention, has developed an interactive, 4-hour Practical Self-Defense Workshop for Girl Scouts to help your troop satisfy the requirements for the Your Best Defense Interest Project Award. During this dynamic workshop, experienced martial arts instructor(s) cover:

  • safety awareness
  • common sense preventions & solutions
  • effective use of voice as a defense tool
  • easily learned physical self-defense techniques
  • effective escapes from holds
  • the use of common items to fend off an attack
  • the pros and cons of personal protection items
  • the differences between various martial arts

Participants have the opportunity to practice scenarios putting their knowledge to use. DART will send an instructor(s) to your location. Class size is a minimum of 12; please call Michele Dusenbery at 303.530.9447 for cost and for scheduling.

Brownie and Junior Girl Scouts:

This 90-minute workshop offers the younger Girl Scouts an age-appropriate introduction to self-defense. Topics include:

  • safety awareness
  • common sense preventions & solutions
  • effective use of voice as a defense tool –NO, GO, TELL
  • a sample of physical self-defense techniques
  • use of common items to fend off an attack
  • the differences between various martial arts
